P-20 Council

Double the Numbers DC is working with organizations across the District to advocate for the formation of a P-20 Council in DC. The new council would help support deliverables articulated in the District's winning Race to the Top (RTTT) proposal and would help realize Mayor Gray’s “Cradle to Career” education vision, enabling key decisionmakers to come together and share a collective sense of responsibility for education outcomes.

Community Briefing

On February 10, 2011, Double the Numbers and the Community Foundation of the National Capital Region co-hosted a community briefing on this topic. Participants discussed the feasibility of creating a P-20 Council in DC, examined the goals and examples of successful P-20 Councils across the country, and developed recommendations for the structure and function of the DC P-20 Council.
