Leadership Team The Leadership Team comprises the signatories to the Memorandum of Understanding that launched the initiative and several other entities important to the success of the initiative such as the University of the District of Columbia. Signatories include the Mayor, Chair of the Council of the District of Columbia, Office of the State Superintendent of Education, DC Public Schools, DC Public Charter School Board, the DC College Access Program, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The DC Education Compact, DC Children and Youth Investment Trust Corporation, DC Public Charter School Association, and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Region also signed the initial Memorandum of Understanding and agreed to support the initiative. The Leadership Team meets two or three times per year and focuses on major strategic questions and opportunities. The Management Team includes representatives of the signatories and leaders of DTN work groups. Many of these individuals are deeply enmeshed in the change work that is the cornerstone of the Coalition. The Management Team provides a forum for these change leaders to work together to coordinate actions, align strategies, develop and manage accountability, and develop and manage results-based frameworks. The Management Team meets monthly. Work groups meet regularly to discuss specific issues in the five areas of the Coalition's focus: raising awareness/college-going culture, high school improvements, college access/postsecondary transitions, college persistence, and reform environment/improved management. |
